New Element on Periodic Table
File under: Politics

Found from a friend who found it somewhere

A major research institution has just announced the discovery of the densest element yet known to science. The new element has been named "Bushcronium." Bushcronium has one neutron, 12 assistant neutrons, 75 deputy neutrons, and 224 assistant deputy neutrons, giving it an atomic mass of 311. These particles are held together by dark forces called morons, which are surrounded by vast quantities of lepton-like particles called peons. The symbol for Bushcronium is "W". Bushcronium's mass actually increases over time, as morons randomly interact with various elements in the atmosphere and become assistant deputy neutrons in a Bushcronium molecule, forming isodopes. This characteristic of moron-promotion leads some scientists to believe that Bushcronium is formed whenever morons reach a certain quantity in concentration. This hypothetical quantity is referred to as "Critical Morass". When catalyzed with money, Bushcronium activates Foxnewsium, an element that radiates orders of magnitude more energy, albeit as incoherent noise, since it has 1/2 as many peons but twice as many morons.

Violence
File under: Politics

The last thing I want to do is start a political debate on my blog. Ok maybe not the last but whatever. I realize that Israel has to defend it's self because Hizbollah wants to wipe it off the face of the earth. However, I'm really starting to get pissed off. Warning, these imagines are not for the faint of heart.

Blaming all of the Palestinian people is like blaming all of the US for George W Bush being in office. The majority of us didn't vote for him. So I don't understand how bombing the shit out of a city is going to do Israel any bloody good. I'm so sick of the US being in bed with Israel. And we wonder why half of the Arab World hates our guts? I'm thinking its pretty damn obvious why they hate us.

ABA: Bush violating Constitution
File under: Politics

Bar association president says signing statements erode democracy

WASHINGTON (AP) -- President Bush's penchant for writing exceptions to laws he has just signed violates the Constitution, an American Bar Association task force says in a report highly critical of the practice.

The ABA group, which includes a one-time FBI director and former federal appeals court judge, said the president has overstepped his authority in attaching challenges to hundreds of new laws.

The attachments, known as bill-signing statements, say Bush reserves a right to revise, interpret or disregard measures on national security and constitutional grounds.

"This report raises serious concerns crucial to the survival of our democracy," said the ABA's president, Michael Greco. "If left unchecked, the president's practice does grave harm to the separation of powers doctrine, and the system of checks and balances that have sustained our democracy for more than two centuries."

US plans to 'fight the net' revealed
File under: News | Politics

From BBC News

Make sure to read the last couple of paragraphs (in extended entry). It's a very disturbing thought.

A newly declassified document gives a fascinating glimpse into the US military's plans for "information operations" - from psychological operations, to attacks on hostile computer networks.

Bloggers beware.

As the world turns networked, the Pentagon is calculating the military opportunities that computer networks, wireless technologies and the modern media offer.

From influencing public opinion through new media to designing "computer network attack" weapons, the US military is learning to fight an electronic war.

The declassified document is called "Information Operations Roadmap". It was obtained by the National Security Archive at George Washington University using the Freedom of Information Act.

Officials in the Pentagon wrote it in 2003. The Secretary of Defense, Donald Rumsfeld, signed it.

The "roadmap" calls for a far-reaching overhaul of the military's ability to conduct information operations and electronic warfare. And, in some detail, it makes recommendations for how the US armed forces should think about this new, virtual warfare.

The document says that information is "critical to military success". Computer and telecommunications networks are of vital operational importance.

Propaganda

The operations described in the document include a surprising range of military activities: public affairs officers who brief journalists, psychological operations troops who try to manipulate the thoughts and beliefs of an enemy, computer network attack specialists who seek to destroy enemy networks.

All these are engaged in information operations.

'Holiday' Cards Ring Hollow for Some on Bushes' List
File under: Politics

These people seriously need to get a life. From The Washington Post. When the hell are the Republicans going to stop catering to the bible thumpers????

What's missing from the White House Christmas card? Christmas.

This month, as in every December since he took office, President Bush sent out cards with a generic end-of-the-year message, wishing 1.4 million of his close friends and supporters a happy "holiday season."

Many people are thrilled to get a White House Christmas card, no matter what the greeting inside. But some conservative Christians are reacting as if Bush stuck coal in their stockings.

Donald Rumsfeld is giving the president his daily briefing. He concludes by saying: "Yesterday, 3 Brazilian soldiers were killed."

"OH NO!" the President exclaims. "That's terrible!"

His staff sits stunned at this display of emotion, nervously watching as the President sits, head in hands.

Finally, the President looks up and asks, "How many is a brazillion?"

Gov. Bush wants probe of Schiavo collapse

CNN

TALLAHASSEE, Florida (AP) -- Gov. Jeb Bush asked a prosecutor Friday to investigate why Terri Schiavo collapsed 15 years ago, calling into question how long it took her husband to call 911 after he found her.

In a letter faxed to Pinellas-Pasco County State Attorney Bernie McCabe, Bush said Michael Schiavo testified in a 1992 medical malpractice trial that he found his wife collapsed at 5 a.m., and he said in a 2003 television interview that he found her about 4:30 a.m. He called 911 at 5:40 a.m.

U.S. Supreme Court agrees to review state's abortion law

From CNN

New Hampshire wants notification rule reinstated
Monday, May 23, 2005 Posted: 12:38 PM EDT (1638 GMT)

WASHINGTON (AP) -- The U.S. Supreme Court, re-entering the abortion debate amid burgeoning speculation about Chief Justice William H. Rehnquist's retirement, agreed Monday to hear an appeal of a decision striking down a state parental notification law.

Justices will review a lower court ruling that struck down such a law in New Hampshire. The Boston-based 1st U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals said the 2003 law was unconstitutional because it didn't provide an exception to protect the minor's health in the event of a medical emergency.

Reason 1,839 why republicans are evil
File under: Politics | Tantrums & Tiaras

I saw a post that really has my feathers ruffled. The whole Schiavo case. Let the woman die with some dignity Jesus people. The husband has turned down several offers of money to keep this woman alive. It is NOT ABOUT THE MONEY! AHHHHHHHH. The man is entitled to move on with his life. He has not abandoned her. For Fucks sake we treat animals better than we treat humans in this country. If the fucking religious freaks and insanely brain washed republican dictators hadn't made this country so FUBAR than we would be able to euthanize Teri Shiavo and end this total stupidity.

Note to Teri's parents: GET A FUCKING GRIP. She IS NOT coming back. You are deluded. You need lots of therapy. You need to let go of your daughter and let her die with dignity. You are completely selfish shits. YOU are the selfish ones, not her husban. You are the morally irreprensible ones, not her husband. You need to have a life outside of taking care of her. She is brain dead and has no clue what is going on around her. Now let go and let her die.
