Pot calling Kettle Black???
File under: Music | News

I'm sorry, but Taylor Hicks has 100 times more talent than Justin Timberlake. Taylor Hicks will be around longer than Timberlake boy.

Justin Timberlake: 'Idol' champ 'can't carry a tune in a bucket'

NEW YORK (AP) -- Justin Timberlake backtracked from criticism of "American Idol" winner Taylor Hicks after telling Fashion Rocks magazine the 29-year-old soul singer "can't carry a tune in a bucket."

"I have a strange relationship with that show," Timberlake tells the magazine in an interview. "I despise it, and yet I'm completely fascinated."

"The guy who won -- people think he looks so normal, and he's so sweet, and he's so earnest, but he can't carry a tune in a bucket. Do you realize how much pressure it is to put on somebody all of a sudden?"

Timberlake, a member of boy band 'N Sync who is now pursuing a solo career, also said: "If he has any skeletons whatsoever; if, God forbid, he's gay, and all these people in Mississippi who voted for him are like, 'Oh, my God, I voted for a queer!' It's just too much pressure."

Liz Morentin, a representative for Hicks' record label, RCA, declined to comment Thursday.

Ken Sunshine, Timberlake's representative, said the 25-year-old singer's comments "were taken completely out of context."

"He has tremendous affection for Taylor Hicks' success," Sunshine told The Associated Press on Thursday. "He would never say anything that personal about somebody he's never met. He only wishes him the best."

Timberlake's second solo album, "FutureSex/LoveSounds," is set for release September 12. "Sexyback," his first single from the CD, began playing on U.S. radio outlets last month.

"I wanted (the album) to look to a time when everything was really sexy," he says. "Maybe everybody was coked up, but who cares? It was hot. It was all about sex."

To Kat: I'm not Ready to Make Nice
File under: Music

This isn't what the Dixie Chicks had in mind when they wrote this song, but these two choruses seem appropriate for Kat

I'm not ready to make nice,
I'm not ready to back down,
I'm still mad as hell
And I don't have time
To go round and round and round
It's too late to make it right
I probably wouldn't if I could
Cause I'm mad as hell
Can't bring myself to do what it is
You think I should

I know you said
Why can't you just get over it,
It turned my whole world around
and i kind of like it

Not Ready to Make Nice by Dixie Chicks
File under: Music

Forgive, sounds good.
Forget, I'm not sure I could.
They say time heals everything,
But I'm still waiting

I'm through, with doubt,
There's nothing left for me to figure out,
I've paid a price, and i'll keep paying

I'm not ready to make nice,
I'm not ready to back down,
I'm still mad as hell
And I don't have time
To go round and round and round
It's too late to make it right
I probably wouldn't if I could
Cause I'm mad as hell
Can't bring myself to do what it is
You think I should

I know you said
Why can't you just get over it,
It turned my whole world around
and i kind of like it

I made by bed, and I sleep like a baby,
With no regrets and I don't mind saying,
It's a sad sad story
That a mother will teach her daughter
that she ought to hate a perfect stranger.
And how in the world
Can the words that I said
Send somebody so over the edge
That they'd write me a letter
Saying that I better shut up and sing
Or my life will be over

I'm not ready to make nice,
I'm not ready to back down,
I'm still mad as hell
And I don't have time
To go round and round and round
It's too late to make it right
I probably wouldn't if I could
Cause I'm mad as hell
Can't bring myself to do what it is
You think I should

I'm not ready to make nice,
I'm not ready to back down,
I'm still mad as hell
And I don't have time
To go round and round and round
It's too late to make it right

Best Album in a very long time
File under: Music

I've had this album for a bit and haven't reviewed it yet for some reason. It truely is one of the best albums I've heard in a long time. It has some of the best lyrics I've heard on an album in a long time. The cover art is great and I love how on the cd it's just a pill. I'm not sure if it's supposed to be but being on antidepressants, the pill looks an awful lot like a prozac pill.

High- Getting radio play and utterly stunning. A beautiful song in which he pours out his emotions. Georgeous. One of my favorites.

You're Beautiful His breakout hit. Another absolutely stunning and amazing song. I would bet a lot of people have moments like this, but he just has an amazing way of expressing it. Has a great line: She can see from my face that I was fucking high. Another favorite.

From one of my favorite albums ever Jame's Blunt's Back to Bedlam:

Life's Soundtract
File under: Music | Pixie Ponderings | Requests | Input Needed

I think its so odd how we always associate music with certain periods of our lives. For example, I always associate The Cranberries to when I was working at a greenhouse at University of Maryland. I associate it because thats when they got really big and I was listening to them all the time. And now, the rebound fuck with CB will always be associated with James Blunt.

So, what music do you guys associate with certain periods of your life?

Best Albums Ever
File under: Find Me | Files | Music

In Progress. The only rule (so far) is that you can only have one album by an artist. This is subject to change of course.

1. Sarah Mclachlan's Fumbling Towards Ecstasy
2. James Blunt's Back to Bedlam
3. Tori Amos's Scarlett's Walk

Keane: Under the Iron Sea
File under: Music

This second album is not a sophmore slump which is obviously fantastic news. It's a bit different then their first album but only in a good way. I really, really highly recommend this album.

Atlantic Has a spooky, eerie feel. I really enjoy this one. If its not on the radio yet, it should or will be. A different feel from their first album.

Is It Any Wonder? The begining of this one is a little annoying but it gets much better. Also a different feal from their first album but still enough to tell its the same band.

Nothing in My Way? This one has a cool opening. This one is also a little more like their first album but not too much. This is one is one of my favorites so far. Catchy.

Leaving so Soon? Good.

A Bad Dream Another radio friendly song I think. Catchy and is one of my favorites. For some odd reason gives me the feeling of Pink Floyd. Don't ask me why.

Hamburg Song Very Nice

Put it Behind You Good. Has a classical feel toward the end.

Crystal Ball Under the Iron Sea, the title of the album comes from this song. Another exrtemely good song.

Try Again Very Good.

Broken ToyAlso has a bit of a spooky feel to it. Good.

The Frog PrinceGood

Jack Johnson Sing a Long and Lullabies for Curious George
File under: Music

Oddly enough, I haven't even seen the movie. But I love Jack Johnson's music. It's very calming and soothing. It's very good for a high strung person like myself. You'll have to forgive the brief comments, Its on the first time I'm listening to the album. When I review the Keane album, I'll be better able to review it as I've listened to it a few times already.. I'll try to remember to repost this once I've listened to the album some more.

Upside Down- Very Jack Johnson. This song is a lot of fun. I can just imagine little kids dancing to it.

I hate it when that happens
File under: Music

Through Pandora.com I discovered a new musician, Plumb. Her cd was cheap from Amazon so I ordered it. I imported it and its under the gospal category in itunes. Turns out that she's a "Christian Artist". I wanted to barf. The problem is, the music is pretty good. It's not really religious and when it is you can almost interpet it another way. So I've been torn wether to keep the cd or not. She's got a great voice and the music's good. But I don't want to support religious bible thumper nut cases.

I totatlly love it that Taylor won American Idol. When American Idol started this season, Kat and I immediately really liked him but thought, no way is he going to make it to the finals. Little did I know he would win the darned thing. I love Katherine as well, but I'm really excited to see what kind of Album Taylor puts out. Katherine will get to make a record as well undoubtably. And if someone doesn't sign Chris Daughtry, they should be smacked. Because I really thought he was going to win. He has an amazing ass voice.

Ok then: Michael Jackson Looking For Job In Emirates?
File under: Music | News | Strange Stains and Mysterious Smells

Good riddance, they can have him

DUBAI, United Arab Emirates -- He's been living there for months -- now, it looks like Michael Jackson is ready to start working in the United Arab Emirates. The pop star is said to be looking into a position as a consultant with a company there. The firm -- A.A.J. Holdings -- said it wants to hire Jackson to give advice on how to set up entertainment businesses.

The company plans to set up theme parks and music academies in the Middle East.
And apparently officials feel a pop star who used to live at an estate that actually includes an amusement park would be a good fit for their company.Since being acquitted on child molestation charges, Jackson has been living in Bahrain and has indicated that he plans to stay there.

If you want to see my other ones click on other imixes by this person. Tell me what you think. Remember they are always in progress of being added to or deleted.

PS if you have any tell me about them and I'll look too.

Sarah Mclachlan Concert
File under: Music

**UPDATE** I had to add some stuff which I'd forgotten

Oh. My. Fucking. GOD. Because I've been a fanclub member for at least 10 years we got amazing seats. 3rd row almost center. The last time she came through I was recovering from the flu and couldn't enjoy myself as much as I wanted to but last night amazed me.

01_SM-002.jpg

Let's start with the AMAZING opening band The Perishers. How many times can you say you've gone to a concert to be stunned in amazement by the opening act? Well it's never happend to me. I've liked them but not been amazed and stunned by them. At the break between them and Sarah I ran to go buy the cd and maybe get it signed. People were buying their cd's like CRAZY and there was this HUGE Line to get their autograph. I gave up on the autographs because I refused to miss a second of Sarah. I could have gotten their autograpghs after the concert but I was EXHAUSTED and cranky. I am seriously regretting it. See the previous blog entry for a review of their STUNNING album.

I'm kinda wishing I had stayed last night and got their autograph like Kat suggested. She was pissed. Oh well. Too late now. Have I mentioned these guys are AMAZING????? BUY THIS ALBUM NOW!!!!!!!! I am so NOT kidding. I am stunned beyond belief. These guys WILL be HUGE.

Weekends- Absolutely beautiful

Sway-They played this last night and it was amazing. They sounded exactly like the album live- always an amazing sign.

Fisher The Lovely Years Review
File under: Music

These guys are totally amazing, though the lead singer is pretty much what makes the band. On first listen I didn't like it as much as I do their first two albums but I'm thinking it's going to grow on me. At least I'm really hoping it will because I'm a bit disapointed.

Beautiful Life- This song you'll recognize because it's used in a Toyota commercial.

Biggest Fan-Odd and bouncy. Very different than what they've written before.

All I Ask Pretty

Tori Concert
File under: Music

Kat and I met The Boys for dinner at Chef Geof's which was directly across the street from Warner Theatre where we saw Tori. Dinner was good and the boys were a blast as usual.

Just a note, we had LAST row seats and we could still see her, so there really aren't any bad seats at Warner theatre.

My only complaint is that she didn't play Sweet the Sting or Ireland from her latest cds. For the most part, All she played were her more obscure songs and that really pissed me off. The last time I saw her, (In Baltimore) she did that too. I really didn't think that was fair but whatever. I did LOVE her cover of Madonna's Like A Prayer which was fantastic. I wish she had toured with a full band, but it was still a great concert. Maybe she'll come through again with a full band (and more of her more popular stuff)

Set list (stolen from: Here)

Original Sinsuality
Angels
Take To The Sky
Josephine
Yes, Anastasia
Mother Revolution
Rattlesnakes

Boys In The Trees (Carly Simon cover)
Like A Prayer (Madonna cover)

Snow Cherries From France
