Kat and I watched Brokeback Mountain yesterday. It was a very good movie and the scenes were beautifully done. However, I do think the movie was a little hyped up and I understand now why it didn't win the best movie oscar. It's definitely the best movie about gay men ever made (with the possible exception of Jeffery) because honestly, movies about gay/lesbian people aren't typically good (IN my lesbian perspective on gay/lesbian movies). I would definitely recommend it. The R rating is so ridiculous and done to appease the religious freaks. I see more in the news at 6pm then I saw in this movie. It only got an R rating because *Gasp* there's such a thing as gay people. SHOCK!
My parents, Kat and I went to go see Memoirs of a Geisha yesterday. I don't know why the critics didn't like it, but I loved it. If you like that sort of thing I highly recommend it
From CNN
LOS ANGELES, California (Hollywood Reporter) -- Wilmer Valderrama, who plays Fez on "That '70s Show," will star as motorcycle cop Ponch in a big-screen version of "CHiPs."
Warner Bros. Pictures, which recently brought TV staples "Starsky & Hutch" and "The Dukes of Hazzard" to theaters with much success, has just acquired the rights for the series.
Erik Estrada famously originated the Ponch role in "CHiPs," which ran on NBC in the late 1970s and followed the adventures of California Highway Patrol motorcycle officers Francis "Ponch" Poncherello and Jon Baker. Larry Wilcox played Baker.
read more ?Over the weekend Kat and I went out to see Batman Begins. Batman is redeemed. This movie was much better than the previous ones. It was also darker and pretty scary in parts. Go see it, it's a blast.
The annoying part was all the idiot parents and their young children who got up every ten minutes to go pee or something. They were driving us crazy
Kat and I went to see Kingdom of Heaven in the theaters over the weekend and we both really enjoyed it. I highly recommend it if you like historical type movies. We watched National Treasure from our Netflix que. Oh my god was that terrible. The dialogue was terrible. The acting was only so so and the plot was ridiculous. It was a poor mans Davinci Code.
Kat and I finally got around to watching Tomb Raider yesterday. Damn, Angelina Jolie is a total hottie. I never used to find her attractive but the more I see her in, the more I love her. Oh yeah and the movie wasn't half bad either.
Kat and I watched two movies over the weekend.
The first we watched on cable was called The missing. This starred Tommy Lee Jones and Kate Blanchett. AWESOME movie. A single mother (I guess in the 1800's?) has her daughter kidnapped by Native Americans. She is forced to turn to her father who had abandoned her when she was younger to help get her daughter back. It is graphic but I really enjoyed it.
The second movie my mom loved but Kat and I felt it was only so so and quite odd. Like Water for Chocolate is truely bizarre. If you really like weird movies you'll like it. It's about a woman (who is just about a psychopath) who is a controling freak of her daughters. The last daughter is forced to take care of her mother. She learns that her cooking can perform magic. Odd, very odd.
Kat and I finally got around to watching another net flix movie last night. It wasn't bad. I rather liked it. I like it sometimes when the bad guys win (No that isn't really a spoiler, it's pretty obvious from the beginning. Definitely interesting.
We watched two of our first batch of netflix movies this weekend. First up was Shark Tale. Hysterical. The puns were a riot and the animation was fantastic. I loved how Will Smith's fish (and everyone else's for that matter) actually looked like the person. I would definitely recommend this movie, totally cute.
And in a hugely different arena, we watched Kill Bill Volume 2. It made a lot more sense than the first one and was just as good. Lots of violence and there was one scene that made Kat and I scream EEEWWWW!! Let's just say someone's eyeball gets squashed under a bare foot. EWWWWW. But good movie.
I'm totally loving Net flix already!!
Welcom 21st Century Pixie and Kat! We just joined net flix!!! WEEEE!!!!!
While I'm at it, does anyone know how (if at all possible) to have our netflix que show up on my blog??
On Monday, Kat and I went to my parents for dinner. Her lasagna was a bit of a disaster as she used romano cheese on the top (YUCK!) needless to say she'll be using Mozorella the next time. Anyway, while we were there we watched this movie called Khandahar which is loosely based off of this Canadian-Afghan woman's life. It was pretty good. It's about how after moving to Canada she goes back to Afghanistan to search for her sister who is about to commit suicide. In real life she goes back in search of a friend she grew up with. It was a surprisingly good movie. My only problem with it is that it ends very abruptly and you're thinking what happens??? You have to go watch the special features about the movie to see what it ended like that. But I do recommend it, it's very interesting.
You know it's not every day you can see your mother on the big screen. Yes, Kat and I made it to the theaters twice this weekend. The second movie was the documentary I mentioned. My mom is in the movie because the Schroeders, who helped the students collect more than 20 million paper clips, are personal friends of our family. And more importantly, my mom wrote the story that appeared in The Washington Post that gave this project the attention it needed to collect the paperclips.
It's a pretty good movie, though the ending was stupid, but as it is a documentary nothing's perfect I suppose. I knew mentally that my mom has a German accent, but I never hear it because I talk to her all the time. But when I heard her talking in the theater it was like, wow. She does have an accent. Imagine that. LOL!
If you like movies like Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon or The Last Samuri, you'll love this movie. The costumes were stunning as was the scenery. The martial arts are amazing though obviously some of them are special effects. The plot is very good with at least two huge plot twists you don't see coming at all. I highly recommend this movie. Oh and the main woman was in Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon. She's stunningly beautiful. Go see this movie! A
Kat and I went to see Phantom of the Opera- the movie. It's fantastic! And of course the music was absolutely fantastic. Must go see it if you like Phantom of the Opera. The singing was amazing and I'm glad they picked no name people.
There's a movie that's coming out, that probably won't get a huge amount of publicity as it's a documentary, that my mom is in!!! It's called Paper clips and it's about the project where students collected millions of paperclips to represent the amount of people who died in the holocaust. My mom is good friends with the people who's project it is. It's just about to go nationwide/
Now I just have to go see it.
Wait...what??!! There's such a thing as gay people??
*THUD*
